Hi Everyone-
I'm the very proud new owner of a 2002 Toyota. Great 1 owner truck and it's in great shape inside-and-out!
My only problem? Previous owner lost one remote and broke the other.....
Do I have to take the cowling off under the stearing column?
This topic seems to be full of info, but some is obviously incorrect.
Thanks for any clarification-

Might be simpler just to use the key to start the vehicule. Those remotes are very expensive and need to be programmed by the dealer.

Ecu

I purchased the remotes (not that expensive) and have the directions to program. It doesn't need to be a dealer. I just needed help finding the exact ECU location. I don't want to pay for something I can do myself.

Kinda the opposite for me... looking to buy a 02 Tundra. Absolutely beautiful truck and the previous owner had three remotes. Not one of them can be put on a key chain because he broke the loops on each remote!
