after my blower motor stopped working a couple of days ago, i took the motor out. i had it still plugged in and was playing with the speed selector knob to see what setting(s) would/would not work. the motor will not work at any speed if i held it like it was installed. but when i turned the motor upside down, the motor worked perfectly. when i found that none of the switch settings worked, i thought about the resistor being bad. what explains the motor working upside down?

That's a weird one, i would start by replacing the blower motor first or what you could do is hook a set of jumpers up and hook the blower motor up to the battery, if turns in any direction, the motor's good.

Loose connection somewhere near the motor itself...that's my guess.

You turning it over makes contact and vise versa.
