I have a 2003 Land Cruiser. It was working normally until last week. Now when I turn the key to start, the car alarm (factory) comes on, and the engine does not crank. I replaced the battery this morning, and that did not help. My neighbors are more than annoyed with me

Any ideas on how to diagnose this?

Any joy if you try to lock and then unlock the driver and passenger door with the key? That should disarm the factory alarm system.

problem solved

I bought the car used, and the dealer neglected to tell me that there was an after market alarm spliced into the wiring.
I had the after market alarm removed, and presto, everything works.

Ah that would do it, threw me for a loop cause you said it was the factory alarm.
