I have a 2004 Highlander Limited V6 with front factory heated seats. They work, but they are very weak. It takes a little bit to warm up and then they seem to turn off for a while, maybe 15 minutes or so. Almost like there is a thermal switch that opens up. The light on the switch stays on when the switch is on. Anyone know how to fix this? If there is a thermal switch I could bypass it.

All the brains are in the seat itself. There is only a power and ground wire so maybe the heating element has seen better days. Probably has to be opened up. The system is almost identical on all Lexus / Toyota so I would see if someone else has had the same issue.

I might be wrong but I believe someone has done this here a while back. I know Dorman and a few others make a heating element kit. There is a large pad in the seat back as well, do you find that one works consistently and the bottom one doesn’t, or do they both not work properly?

They both work the same, butt and back, very weak. It is like they come on for a few minutes and then turn off
