I am looking at a 2004 Solara convertible slr to buy and i noticed in consumer reports this is the only year after 2003 that has black marks for "suspension" and "body integrity". Is there a known weakness in these areas of the model that I should be concerned about ?

The Solara is being discontinued. You either like it or you don't. Apparantley, most don't.
The body and supension weakness has been present since the first one was built. It's been highlighted in several reviews. It's still a nice car if you like it.

Actually its the opposite.. the body integrity and rigidity was increased for the gen2 Solaras (04-present) and is better than the gen1 (99-03)... Reviews I have read in Car&Driver and other automotive magazines agree. Almost all of the reviews I have read say that this convertable is the best one you can buy in the price range.

I don't know what suspension problems they would be referring to... I have not heard of anyone having problems with their stock suspensions (other than noise from the rear strut which Toyota issued a TSB for...)

I have had my 04 hardtop for 2 years now and I love it, I would say go for it.
