Causes can range from engine to drivetrain (brake sticking, bad wheel bearing, etc). How’s the engine air cleaner filter? Has the MAF (Mass Airflow Sensor) and TB (Throttle Body) flap ever been cleaned? Those are easy DIY maintenance items to check first. I’ve cleaned my MAF and TB twice now (about every 100K miles).

Obviously, if you are going to slow for a certain load/speed, you have to downshift.

Without knowing the 'life' of the vehicle, it could be anything.

Time for a tuneup and scan for error codes.

I know its not because I need to downshift, (I have been driving this truck since 2008)...My tires are inflated correctly, my airfilter is relatively new, but I will check all other suggestions, thank you very much......

Well boys and girls.....NancyJane just needs a new clutch....Ouch.....thanks for all your suggestions though....I am sure I will be asking for help again.....
Just for a follow up: Parts and labor for new clutch with a new flywheel, and because there was a really loose shifter and had to get a shift lever assy....Parts were 1678.00. Labor was 1125.00. plus the dealer charged me 256.00 for a rental. I have never used this dealer before but he could get me in right away (although now I had to wait for parts). My normal dealer's labor charge was much less but I would have had to wait a couple of more weeks to get in. My big mistake was not asking what the labor charge was up front. (125.00 an hour). So truck still needs upper and lower ball joints and control arms, but that is for another day. But this is my first clutch in 200K miles so I love my TACO.....
