My girlfriend just bought one, and although I nor she is interested in mods for this car, I am interested in the 1ZZ engine. A co-worker of mine has the new Lotus Elise with the 2ZZ-FE and a GT28RS at 7 psi. He chose not to turbocharge a 1ZZ motor due to the fact that his Forced Fed package only needed the supplied headgasket to drop the compression ratio down to the 8's and safe for 7 spi with engine management.

I had originally talked of swapping out the 2ZZ for a 1ZZ when he bought it, that way he'd have a fresh unraped 2ZZ if he ever wanted to get rid of it. This was entertained but wasn't of much use to him, he is a surgeon, I am an assistant. He just wanted it done and Forced Fed luckily came out with a kit while we were discussing doing it anyways, so he bought it and was done with it.

So, my question is, have any of you taken your 1ZZ-FE's beyond what they are? Any of you rolling around with a brand new turbocharged Corrolla?

Nevermind Corrrrrrrrollas.. I thought the Lotus came with the 2ZZGE not FE :)

Haven't seen too many turbocharged 1ZZFEs but TRD does have a supercharger package for it.

As for the 2ZZGE, Lotus offers the turbo package for it.. but it'll cost mad cash! :wowza:

BTW if you're not interested in "mods", what category does "engine swap" fall into then? :)

There are a lot of people at www. 9th gen corolla .com (without the spaces) who have boosted 9th generation corollas. Some are custom and some are bolt on. The 1zz responds well to boost, the 2zz not so well.

Both respond well to boost regardless. Any engine will respond well to boost so long as you match turbo to motor and have your engine management in check. The 2ZZ is has an 11.1 CR and Forced Fed supplies nothing more than a .040 headgasket to drop the compression ratio into the 8's, besides that it's a stock bottom end. As for price, we were contemplating this before FF came out with their system. He has the dollars (neurosurgeon) and I have been fiddling with turbocharged cars since the late 80's. Forced Fed came out with their kit and there was no need for hacking at that point since it was completely turnkey out of the box.

Thanks for the link
