ok lemme just bring this old little thing back up. Our beloved Tacoma won the 2005 motor Trend Truck of the Year last year. And for 2006, Motor Trend has announced that Honda Ridgeline as Truck of the Year. I was wondering what you guys think of this as we were bashing this truck(yea right) all of 2005. Well any input would be greatly entertaining:lol:.

i still think it sucks more ass than the best ass sucker that ever lived....ok not really...im just toyota bias..the bed is too short for me too

Isn't this the first year the truck has been available to buy? It hasn't even been around long enough to decide whether it's a quality truck or not. They might all fall apart next year.

i hate that truck. its a very poor ripoff of an avalanche, looks like sh!t i think, i couldnt tell you how it rides becuase i wouldnt be caught dead in one. the only cool thing about it is that trunk thats in the bed. ok im done for bashing honda and its ugly cars for awhile...

You have to be 10' tall to get stuff out of the bed of that truck. It's basically an SUV like the Avalanche with a real big trunk. You could NEVER use that truck for work unless you are a pillow delivery man.

I have not drive one yet, but as as far as looks, I personally don't like it, from any angle it just doesn't look right (it is an ugly vehicle-I won't call it a truck). The award was unanimous, so it must be a good choice. It did not compete agains the Tacoma, Tundra, Frontier or Titan. The competition was Dodge Ram 1500, Dodge Ram Mega Cab, Honda Ridgeline, Isuzu i350, Lincoln Mark LT, and Mitsubishi Raider. The Isuzu we all know is a Chevy Colorado. The Mitsu Raider is a disguised Dodge Dakota (some competition!). Why they didn't include the Taco or Tundra, I don't know. Maybe they wanted some other truck to win.

To me, the Ridgeline isnt a Truck. Thats like calling the Hummer SUT a truck. Its more of an SUV.

If there's a new honda... it'll win any Motor Trend award it qualified for. That mag is the most Honda-biased rag on the planet. (Perhaps even more than the import performance mags.)

Definition of a truck: Body on full frame. Multiple engine options. Low/High, diff lock on their drivetrains. ect...

Honda Ridgeline ?? Not a true Truck. I guess MT is on the Honda payroll just like CD.

I am sure they are nice trucks, or big cars with a bed, whatever you want to call them. I actually was going to check them out, but when I priced one out with options it was like $38k.....Uh......no thanks for something that looks that fugly

Think about it, to qualify a truck must have a signifigant change from the previous model year.
Ford, GM, Dodge, Toyota and Nissan really didnt change from '05, only Honda did, so the Ridgeline is the only real choice.
Personally, I like the Ridgeline. I wouldnt buy one but for someone who wants to be able to haul stuff, but still wants lots of passenger room, a smooth ride and good fuel economy, its a great truck.
Granted, you wont see any Ridgelines on construction sites, but for the yuppie soccer mom types, its a good idea.
Is it a real truck? Yes, (it has a bed) but no (its not body on frame and has an independent rear suspension). Id put it in the same class as the Subaru Baja.

all I know is that my nieghbor has one. He is a cement contractor, and he drives obout 200 mi. a day. He loves his ridgeline. But don't get the wrong idea, I personally would not have one and call it a truck, it's a car!

I love Hondas, but the Ridgeline isn't my idea of a truck. Looks like a spaceship to me. And it does remind me of that Chevy truck, which I thought was hideous, as well.

the ridgeline is what happens when an 00+ eclipse and a chevy avalanche have a baby, honda adopts it and doesnt love it enough so it becomes ugly.

Honda is pretty smart in making a vehicle that is half car and half truck. They key on people who are not sure if they need a car or a truck but want the luxury of a car. Around my area I'm starting to see less of the Surbarbans and more of the ridgelines.
