I searched by several different phrases and couldn't find an existing thread on this prob. Sorry if a repeat. Just purch'd a gorgeous new 2006 Camry XLE and find all the storage compartment seem to have a will of their own and pop open at the slightest opportunity.:headbang:

...cup holder
...under the stereo storage
etc. etc.

I'm thinking these must be magnetic. What is happening here, why do they pop open at random times (even a small bump, they open). Is it just something I have to live with?

Congrats on the purchase!

That is weird that they don't stay closed. Are you making sure you push the door all the way so it "locks"?

I don't have the under radio door on my 02 but on my 2010 i do and it takes a bit of force to put it in the locked position. Have never had it pop open on it's own though.

Not quite sure. It definitely does not give an affirmative "click" like the cupholder does not have that same feeling either. Just the slightest jounce and they will both pop open.

Last weekend my dog went for a ride with me, nose resting in the CD storage box and front paws in the cupholders.

Now about that changing of the radio station with his nose.......:nono:
.....its a sensitive car I've found.

That is odd, I have an '06 XLE and an '07 XLE, neither have that problem, something is wrong. Now if you said that you had an '07 and the sliding console drove you nuts, then I'm with ya!
