Hey All,

Does anyone know of an easily accessible 12V switched wire in the 2007+ Camry that I can tap into in order to install my Valentine 1 Radar Detector?

I'd rather not have to use a fuse tap if I can just find the right switched wire.

Thanks!

Do you have a moonroof? If so, it would be very easy just to tap into the moonroof wires.

If you don't have a moonroof, you might have to run the wire down to the lower dash and connect it to the radio power wire or any other wire that turns on with the car.

All I did was buy Valentines 8 foot flat cord. Attached my V1 to my blendmount. Ran the wire across the headliner, down the passenger pillar, across the glove box and into the side access of the cubby hole and connected to the cigarette adapter. Thats my "hard wire"

i ran it from up top, above the rearview mirror and down the driver side pillar, under the dash and tapped into the 12V powerpoint inside the cubby. I used a 12 ft phone cord and it was just enough.

Can you post more pics? I want to see how you ran the wire under the dash to the cubby. I also have a V1 and I'd love to figure out a way to hide the wire.
that's the only picture i have... but I just took off the pillars on the side of the cubby, then took off the screw. Then I removed the trim piece for the shifter (you have to remove the shifter). Then I shimmy'd the cubby out. Then I tapped into the wires w/ my Valentine direct-power kit. Then I ran a telephone cord up along the side of the dash (driver side).

One other tip, I also removed the "tweeter" cover so I can run the phone cord easier. It was simply a snap off/snap on thing. Um... I think that's it. It's pretty straight forward.

I went super high-tech with this problem.

I used two layers of clear packaging tape. You can barely see it and it works

Just remember to put the packaging tape on very nicely. No creases or bubbles.
