The fob has the lock/unlock buttons and also a circle w/ an arrow on the end. When I do the lock lock hold lock procedure or push the circle, the car starts and runs for 8 seconds, then shuts down for about ten seconds then starts again and does this 3 times ending w/ the car shut off and I can't get the 10 min. warmup out of it. The previous owner might have had something done to it because it will run w/ the door open and I understand it's supposed to shut off when the door opens to prevent theft. Any thoughts? Don't think we can help you here, since as your title mentions, it's an aftermarket remote start. You didn't mention brand either, so you're not gonna get any responses on this. Your best bet is to bring the car in to a remote start installer to have it looked at.

Could be wiring related to the starter signal. As @gamer765 mentioned, your best bet is to find a shop to look at it or find the manual online.

Thx for the responses. I thot it was a factory remote start w/ an aftermarket fob. Says Codealarm CAT4P. I contacted them @ their site so I'll test their customer service w/ a 14-year old product.
