This is the final production version of this car. So far, it's kept almost all the aspects of the concept car and it seems a pretty well built car, besides having the interior very bland, it's pure muscle.

The return of the iconic Dodge Challenger brings what pony car fanatics crave: ground shaking performance, unmistakable design cues reminiscent of the original Challenger, world-class ride and handling characteristics and benchmark braking. On top of that it features a wide variety of modern amenities and technology designed to delight a new generation of driving enthusiasts.

"The all-new Dodge Challenger SRT8 is engineered to give customers everything they want in a modern muscle machine," said Mike Accavitti, Director - Dodge Brand and SRT Global Marketing, Chrysler LLC. "The new version of Dodge's American classic boasts tire-smoking performance and head-turning design while offering a wide array of state-of-the-art technology, such as GPS navigation, 'Keyless Go' entry, a MyGIG™ infotainment system and UConnect hands-free communication."

Developed by Chrysler's in-house performance engineering organization, the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 was engineered with a focus on the five pillars of every SRT vehicle: bold exterior design that resonates with the brand image, a race-inspired interior, world-class ride and handling across a dynamic range, a standout powertrain and benchmark braking.

Dodge will offer the limited-edition 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 in three colors: HEMI® Orange, Bright Silver Metallic and Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl Coat. Each two-door, rear-wheel-drive coupe will be produced with a numbered dash plaque, carbon fiberlike hood stripes and will be powered by SRT's 6.1-liter HEMI V-8 engine that boasts 425 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque.

With a U.S. Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $37,995 (including $675 destination), the all-new 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 arrives in Dodge showrooms this spring.

The 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 vehicles will be manufactured at Chrysler's Brampton, Ontario, Canada assembly plant.

Performance targets for the all-new 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 include a 0-60 mph time in the low 5-second range, 0-100-0 mph in less than 17 seconds, a ¼-mile elapsed time of less than 14 seconds, 60-0 mph braking distance of approximately 100 feet, and a skid pad performance of 0.88 g.

That interior looks pretty well finished compared to some of Chrysler's previous efforts, but it's too damn generic for a retro muscle car. :disappoin

^^^ I agree, the interior isn't "inspiring" but then again the people that buy this probably won't care about that. However, I really hope the interior quality isn't as shitty as most of the other Chrysler cars.

I also feel that the front bumper unit looks a bit "empty," and could be resolved with an extra trim-piece that's of a different color (like the same black used on the lip-spoiler) to surround the radiator intake (or "mouth"). The side mirrors also looked too rounded for such a square-looking muscle car.

Other than that, I like it a lot

why does the interior remind me of ... camry?

specifically the cupholders, shifter, and .... climate controls?
yeah the cupholders aren't BESIDE the shifter, but the same side they were on and just pushed back

Also its got a newer camaro feel to the body... which is odd

I like it, alot! And its reasonably affordable, like the Camaro. I do like the front end, too bad we have to have front license plates...it would ruin it!

I never have liked this car, not in concept form, and definitely not in production form. The interior is generic, it rides too high, the rear tires are too skinny, no manual transmission (at launch), and it is heavy (4100 lbs). The performance stats are lackluster: 5 second 0-60, 13.5 1/4 mile, .88 skidpad . . . .terrible!! The 6.1 Hemi is a great motor, but this thing is 400 lbs too heavy and it's stats show.

Can't wait to stomp one in my GTO (at the track, of course)!!

Congratulations to Chrysler! They beat the Camaro to the market, despite the fact that the Challenger and Camaro concepts were introduced at about the same time, thanks to the fact that Chrysler already had a RWD platform ready on which to build it. For this, they must thank Mercedes for providing their previous-generation E-class platform.

They look similar, but the Challenger is handicapped performance wise by the fact that it's considerably larger: It's actually as big as the LX sedans, with an overall length of 198 inches and a 4,100lb curb weight. The Camaro, in contrast is only 186 inches long, which means it should also be a few hundred pounds lighter.

Don't forget that the initial run will also only offer an open differential.

425 horsepower through one wheel. Sheer brilliance!

I agree with the interior but its Chrysler so don't expect much. Then again Muscle cars weren't known for their lavish interiors and refinement. It was about raw power, an engine with a piece of metal on top (pretty much). Obviously for these retro cars most of the money went to the exterior and the interior is an afterthought. I like the new Camaro but the interior is shit. Too bad. GM could have really hit a home run and be above Ford and Chrysler as far as retro muscle car interior. It will be fun to pit all these cars against each other.

On another note I think its rediculous to have so many variations of the Mustang. It just ruins it IMO. Its not "sacred" anymore. Just a mass produced car with a V8...okay maybe that's not bad profit wise and I know Ford makes money off of it, but barely. One of their few money makers. Oh well. I give up, its not like the Mustang is my favorite...there are better cars.

Whoa, I like now where is the 426 option XD...
I think they should make an exclusive engine for this car, just because it is the Challenger....

The camaro is all new from the ground up (Zeta had to be heavily modified for the Camaro to "fit" on it). The challenger is essentially a new body on a modified Charger/300 Chassis. The interior is also mostly "parts bin" Chrysler. The time line is impressive, but not really considering.

Toyota took 3 years from the FTX concept to the debut of the new Tundra, the Camaro will be 3 years as well.

I like the overall look of the car. I dislike the straight on side shots, it makes the car look slab sided and fat, but it looks awesome from all other angles. It looks great in black too!

Sexy? Yes. Fast? Yeah. Heavy? Very. Expensive? Very much so...

$40k for something that gets to 60 in 5 seconds, is built by Chrysler, and probably doesn't handle all that great? Yeah, I'll just find a used C6 Corvette fully loaded that looks better, is much faster, and handles better to boot. Or, I'll just wait until the Camaro comes out and smokes its ass...
