Does anyone have a good understanding of what the proper conditions are for using the ECON mode? Is it designed for around-town driving (25-40 mph with lots of stop signs and lights)?
I don't have any scientific data to support this, but I use it on the freeway. It seems to blunt your acceleration (unless you really push on the gas pedal). I think I get a little better mileage with it (~1mpg).
We use ECON most of the time - freeway driving included. The display seems to indicate you are getting better mileage when it is turned on - at even higher speeds. And we don't really miss the additional power you get when you turn it on. So why not.
