brother in law recently bought an 08 rav4. the seller didn't know much about the car . it turns out it has some silencer brand alarm?/autostart thing. my question is: is it safe to remove the car battery? i want to clean the gunk off the terminals, but am unsure if the alarm/remote starter system needs to be reprogrammed if the battery is disconnected.

it's some foamy cleaner that turns pink if it detects acid...don't want the residue splashing inside the engine bay
brand name on the keybob says Silencer.
