My Grandparents just bought a 2009 Corolla LE. It came with power door locks, but no remote keyless entry. Is it possible that it's already "pre-wired" for remote keyless, but just needs a key fob, and programming to work?

I had a friend with a Ford Mustang, and his supposedly didn't come with remote keyless either, but all he needed was a key fob for the remote keyless to work. $20, and 2 minutes of programming later, his remote works just fine.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys.

I've been researching online, and it appears that I would need the RS3200 for the remote keyless to work. Does anyone know if the 2009 Corolla uses the RS3200? Also, is it plug and play?

Installing the Toyota KE on an '09 LE after delivery?

Hi - we just bought an '09 LE and, like the OP's grandparents it has PDL but no keyless entry. Dealership wanted to sell us an aftermarket (non-Toyota) system but I didn't want the potential problems with using a third-party system.

So my question is can one get a Toyota-manufactured keyless entry system added to an '09 Corolla after purchase? I searched the threads on this forum and couldn't locate a definitive answer. Thanks for your help!

Is the LE different in the U.S,?
I just have my LE for just a week and is still trying to familiarise with it.
Mine have the "smart key" system. It have a remote with buttons for lock unlock for doors and unlock for trunk and a panic.
Difference with this remote is I just have to have it on my person and front door unlocks when I grab the handle. Once inside the car I just press the start button to activate accessories or step on the brake and press start button to start the car. Just press once to start.
It is quite a system but being a repairman in my past life my imagination is telling me all the downsides.

Canadian LE models are equipped with smart key, automatic climate control and power driver's seat. We do not have an XLE model.

My LE does not have power driver's seat. It comes with the sunroof option which living in lower mainland BC is a useless item.

My dad's CX7 has a similar thing called "intelligent key system"...
I would love to get it on my S but I know it is not being offered at all.
I was wondering is there a way to get this smart key system?
Is it possible (anything is possible) to get a aftermarket smart key?
Perhaps not the push start button but even the entry part.

Please share if you know anything about this...
Thanks!

Well we actually developed what you were looking for: Aftermarket hands-free keyless entry system. www.advancedkeys.com

It is similar to that of BMW/Lexus's "ComfortAccess/SmartAccess card" and the access card is about 2/3 of a credit card and it has an effective range of 2-3 meters. This system was built with security in mind: UHF-RFID authentication and rolling code encryption security. This system's security is equivalent to that OEM smart access if not better. It is designed as an universal keyless entry/alarm module that can be adopted onto any vehicle (your OEM remote will still work) and it also has a starter disable relay built-in for multipurpose usage (A hint : option for an aftermarket push-start button!). It also have auto windows/sunroof closing function when it automatically locks. I have one install in my Hyundai and I am loving it!

would you say installing one of these would be similar to an aftermarket alarm system. i use to install basic alarms in factory cars. i have been looking to get a keyless entry and start on my honda s2000 which has a push start already.

Absolutely, it is an anti-theft device as well. It monitors door switches and ignition. If access key is not present when door/engine are open/activated, it will sound alarm, flash hazard lights and disable starter relay.

This device is perfect for push-start too. It has a starter enable output which can be use for the push-start enable. The output is disabled if an valid access key is not present. This give you the security you need for the push start operation.

It's also got a trigger output for optional window closer module as well, so locking and closing windows are done automatically when you leave vehicle.

We are located in Canada and we are new, so let's just we are all about quality and reliability right now.
