I'm at 25,000 miles, the guys at the dealer say my rear brakes are completely gone and the rotors are dug out. I brought it in because of a grinding noise while braking. So they resurfaced the rotors and put in new brake pads (should I get them to replace them under warranty?).

Is this common so early? They said they saw a moon-shaped impression which indicates I was driving with the parking brake on, but this is pretty much impossible as even slight depression of the parking brake causes the dash to light up and a constant beep while driving.

There still is grinding noise from the rear while braking, so was wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar? Like maybe a problem with the parking brake mechanism being misconfigured which causes a constant rubbing.

I don't think brake wear is covered under the warranty. 25,000 miles doesn't seem like many miles to have worn out brake pads, especially on the rear brakes that only do about 25% of the stopping.I'd have the dealer run a brake pressure check to see if the pressure to the rear brake cylinders is in specs. I don't know about the 09's rear disk brakes, but on mine, the pads have nothing to do with the parking brake. The parking brake portion of the disc has internal drum surface and uses brake bands just like on the old cars before disc brakes appeared. Maybe the parking brake bands are worn through to metal and are adjusted too tight and dragging. Anything is possible. Regards.
