Don't know if this has happened to any one else, but on two occasions while fumbling for the side mirror control, I accidentally turned off the vsc and trac systems. I read the owners manual and after multiple attempts was able to get the lights to go off. While driving today I noticed both the trac and vsc lights were on (they were not on when I started out and I had not accidentally turned the systems off), I stopped the car and shut the engine off, which according to the manual will reset both control systems. multiple times. Any one know how to remedy this issue? I feel I can't be the only one this has happened to. I'm concerned this could affect the transmission and who knows what else. The manual states when these systems are engaged, that an intermittent buzzer will sound, this has not occured while driving with lhe indicator lights on. Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this, any help is most appreciated. Jersey Bob

it could be them lighting up because of another code. when mine did that the car wouldnt shift out of 3rd gear and the didstick wasnt totally pushed in the tube, I pushed it back in and after a couple of vehicle start-stops, lights went away.

To know why check engine light on but no codes, just visit AutoGuysLand for more info. You should check everything and It could be loose gas cap. Also you can use the OBD2 scanner to read the code to know exactly what wrong with your car. Good luck.

Update to vsc and trac indicator. Checked dipstick and gas cap,ok. Couldn't see anything else amiss. I forgot to mention that the check engine light was on (and still is), when I noticed the vsc and trac warning on. Does this mean I need a obd2 scanner? Not sure this will show up as I don't know how to make a reply. I've only had a computer for less than a year and I'm 72, so please excuse me. Thanks Jersey Bob

I would take the vehicle into AutoZone and have them hook up the OBD2 scanner and then you will definitely know what and if any error codes you have........let us know the outcome.
AutoZone scanned the car and came up with a PO138 code. The counter person thought it might be a mistake, considering what I brought it in for. He suggested I disconnect the battery and see if that would reset the two systems. So far so good. Made 4 short trips and all is normal. I want to thank ztaki for the autozone tip, they were very helpful, and thank all who read and responded. Maybe this can help others. Thanks, Jersey Bob
