Has anyone had this done per the free campaign from Toyota?

If so, how long did it actually take and did you have any issues afterward, including any change in fuel economy?

I know the systems were introduced in the Highlander in 2011 to try to improve cold weather fuel economy. I thought they were taken from the Lexus RX hybrid, but it seems the part is only common to the new Prius V and CT 200h.

Anyone know what is all involved that would take 9 hours to complete, according to the campaign notice?

I'm scheduled for 6/5, I'll let you know how it goes.

Update: Only took about 6 hours between dropping it off and getting the call that it was ready (it was the only thing they did). I've seen no negative effect on mileage though of course it is pretty warm now.

Here's my story....

I had it done the same week I received the notice, which I was also due for a first check up. Initially, the dealer told me it would only take a few hours, however when I got there, they informed me it will take longer "since they have to flush the fuel line". I didn't ask for anymore details since they offered a replacement vehicle for the weekend. My highlander was dropped of on Saturday morning, and was told to pick it up on Monday afternoon. A free car wash was provided, also a loaner vehicle, Prius, for the weekend.

Overall, it was pretty smooth, nothing unexpected. I'd say go for it. :D

Bought my 2011 Highland Hybrid Limited in March with 2800 miles on it. Got a fantastic deal. I know something must have been wrong, but the Carfax the dealer showed me was clean.

Anyway, I got the service notice, which said it is a 9 hour repair. I called the dealer and scheduled service. They arranged a rental since it was a long repair, and there were a few other minor items to be addressed. However, they called me first thing the next day and told me the car was ready. When I picked it up, the invoice said 2.1 hours for the actuator service. I thought it was odd, but I have a good deal of factory warranty left if anything was done improperly.

I had mine changed on 7-6-2012. It took about 5 hours from delivery to pick up call. We were averaging 29-30 mpg for the past several months. Since the repair we can not get to 28 mpg after 3 fill ups. Plan to call the service manager today. Has anyone else experienced this?

The dealership somehow managed to kill my MPG while they had it in their possession (I am guessing a lot of idling) but since I have had it back it has been about the same. Has any other factor changed? While the A/C is electrical, using it clearly runs down the HBP faster. As does using headlights at night or in the rain. I find this affects MPG unless I am on the highway.

You must drive a lot if you have had 3 fill ups in 17 days!

Had mine done today. It was there less than 6 hours, but it's not obvious to me how many hours the actual repair took, based on the receipt. I got close to 41 mpg on the 10 mile trip there and almost exactly the same on the way back. Hardly scientific, I know, but I measured as a rough check. I'll be putting on over 1000 highway miles in the next couple weeks. Based on past numbers, I expect to get 30mpg plus or minus 2mpg with a full load of 5 people, stuff and constant A/C use. If it is less than 28mpg, I'll have to wait a couple more months for some city driving to make a verdict.
