I have a 2012 Camry with the I4 in it. The computer has been showing 28-29 mpg It seemed like the tank was emptying faster than it should so I calculated it by hand for 4 tanks of gas and it has been under 22 mpg every time. Most of my driving is in hills, even my Explorer V6 does better on gas. Not sure what’s going on with the Camry.

You are not that much off, it's rated 25 city. Hills DO NOT help at all. It is getting colder, so mpg goes down.
How many miles and what maintenance was done so far?
161k miles, usual maintenance. The TC was repaired less than a year ago but it’s shuddering again so I need to take it in. I do all of the oil changes myself with full synthetic. It’s been a good car, especially since the previous owner put it through hell.

Spark plugs? Air filter? Tires? Tire pressure?
Air filter is good. Tires are new. Tire pressure is good. Spark plugs is a good possibility, it has been idling a little bit rough but I figured it was just from the weather. I’ll have to check that. Thank you!
