I have a 2013 Toyota highlander. I have had this car for a year now and right before I hit that year the check engine light came on. Took it to Toyota and they said it was the coil packs. Had another place replace the coil packs and it still ran rough once in a while. Took it to another dealer and they said wrong kind of coil packs. They opened it up and said it needed a whole new engine. They didnt know why though. Took it back to Toyota and they didnt know why it would run smooth and then not. They wanted more money to open it up more. Contacted the corporate office and they gave us no help. The mechanics said this should not be happening there is no reason for this car to have such a break down. Took it to another mechanic and found out it was a spring. Luckily it could be salvaged. The dealer at Toyota tried to work with us but corporate office wouldn't let them. I'm just upset about the lack of care they had for the customer and it seemed like they didnt stand by their products.

Unfortunatly it seems like the new norm for Toyota!
Glad you didn't buy the explanation and got it fixed.
Corporate don't care. If its under warranty and covered. Yeah they'll have it fixed. Nothing else and anything dealer specific they'd wash their hands of since dealers are independent operations. You'd have to take it up with them/service manager or dealer owner.
