If you have a test light, probe to verify there is voltage going into it. Check the bulb to make sure the filament is not broken. Many times the tabs inside the socket are recessed too much so that the leads on the light do not make contact.

Thanks new echo owner and kranat007.
I'm the idiot - I was changing the backup light bulb by mistake.
After pulling the tail light, it just lit up, without changing the bulb - so put it back in place, and it's working.
Strange, but I'll take it.

HOOOOOOLLLLLYYYYY CRAAAPPP!!!

I couldn't figure out why my bulb was different than the replacement I bought or that what I could find as a replacement online was different than what I was holding in my hand. "Why is MY tail light bulb different?" Then I read this... HAHAHAHA I ran to the car and saw right away that I had done the same thing. I had taken the back up bulb out (probably ruined it with my greasy fingers) instead of the tail light.

THANK YOU for posting this.

Hahahaaaaa
