Hi everyone, I’m new to forums but just wanted to make a post if anyone else needs help! So, I’ve been wanted to add some extra thump to my Toyota Highlander and recently installed a subwoofer and amp. I’m also installing door speakers and I just added tweeters last night. After doing a lot of research and watching videos I noticed that my Highlander has 4 wires instead of the 2 wires that I’ve seen in other highlanders. Originally going into the install I was just going to cut the factory wires and tie them into the new tweeters, but I couldn’t find any wiring diagrams or anything on which wires were which. So, I ended up ordering wiring harnesses from Amazon for $14 for a pair which fit perfectly! I also ordered SKAR TX35 3.5” tweeters in hopes that they would fit. I didn’t buy any brackets and I definitely didn’t want to spend $110 on the factory subaru tweeters that I’ve seen people buy which has the factory connection. So in Total, I spent $35 on the SKAR tweeters and $14 on the wiring harness for a seem-less install and with amazing sound quality! I will link both products in this thread and also post pictures! Thanks for reading and I hope this helps someone else out!

Those tweeters have pretty low sensitivity. Much lower than I imagine the stock speaker(s) had. Did it help balance out the systems forward sound bias?
Yes, I agree. I think it made a big difference in the sound and being more balanced. When I installed the subwoofer the bass drowned the music out, but now I can hear the music clearly and the bass in the background. Great tweeters for the price in my opinion

The 4 wires are just 2 channels of audio splicing together at the speaker. If you follow the wiring, you’ll see that the L-channel wire comes from the stereo, connects to the speaker which also connects to that second wire and then goes to the door speaker. And it’s the same for the R channel. Obviously you’ve already done it but if anyone else reads this and wants more info, I have the wiring diagrams somewhere and can explain better.

Thank you for the info man! I wish I knew that before buying the adapters lol but feel free to post the wiring diagrams for future reference for anyone who comes across it!

I've seen these on amazon and some people claim the wires are reversed positive with negative.
I did not wanted to wait for shipping thus I reused the connector from the old tweeter. just a bit of soldering.
That always works too! Better to DIY than wait🤣 I didn’t have time to even mess with them during the week so I just went ahead and ordered the adapters for the weekend. I did see the reviews but thankfully it was correct on the ones I got.

Nice. I did have to firmly seat the tweeter speaker into the slot because the clearance between the speaker and the protective mesh grill is very tight. I think adding a sub is the best upgrade for a stock setup. The front tweeters are the easiest to install. Here is what I went with.
