Hi everyone, i have my Avalon for almost a a year and a half, i'm fighting with my dealer for almost a year and they still didnt fix the problem, i went to them i told them i have bad odor coming from the vents, it smells like mold or something like that, they dont believe me. The only thing that they changed was the cabin air filter and now i have the same smell coming out, im explaining to them that when i put the AC on the air is not dry its moisturize, ive got my car in lease and everytime im going to them they tell me that everything is ok and the change of smell it because of the weather outside.
Please give me and advice what should i do, thanks !:crying::crying::crying:

I had the same problem with my 2014 Avalon Hybrid XLE touring. I put a Toyota brand charcoal cabin filter in it and started turning off the air conditioner a couple of miles from home on my last trip for the day and just let the fan run with the outside air and now I don't have any problem.

This, plus make sure you use the a/c in fresh air mode (not recirculate all the time) wherever possible.

I have not experienced this, but many have. Mostly from Humid climates.

For any help, the drain for the AC needs to be clear. I expect your Toyota man has checked this.

Does the car have condensation drip when you leave it parked, with the AC on?

The other options that come to mind is to find a can of drier Super absorbent.
Zeasorb is one. Try Home Depot or building supplier. They use it to help remove mold and mildew

Put a lagre bowl in the floor of passenger side and drive for a while and see if the humidity can be removed

My 2012 Camry does recirc when it is hot and first starting out. It switches to fresh air after a bit.

My 2014 Avalon XLE seems to always select recirc. I wish there was a way to change it to work like the Camry.

So far neither car has odor issues.

Common problem with Camry as well. My 2012 had it and dealer acted like they couldn't smell it. One of the online recommendations was to spray lysol up the drain hose to the evap coils in the winter when the a/c was dry. My problem went away immediately after the recall 3511KB (hvac leaking water on to airbag sensor) was done on my car. I also use carbon cabin filters.
