So I've recently ran into the issue of my door locking not making the "beep beep" and lights blinking when I lock the door. To add to the confusion, I walked up to the passenger door and waited for the door to unlock with the key fob being in range and when I went to open the door by the handle, the lights flashed and audibly beeped multiple times like there was an error and the car wouldn't unock. Does this happen if the remote key fob battery is getting low? I've tried locking the car by touching the handle with my fingers and the lock but I don't get the "beeps or flashing"...

Any ideas what this could be?

Hi, pretty sure my 2016 XLE Plus gave me a dashboard warning that my key fob battery was needing replacement. But if you haven't replaced yours in almost 5 years, it may be due. It's a cheap enough DIY replacement and couldn't hurt.

You will get odd behavior with a low battery in fob. My '16 Avalon showed a Low Fob Battery warning on dash so I replaced it.
