Hi everyone,

I'm new to the Highlander and to here. Thanks for any help in advance.

We have 2017 xle Highlander. Everything was working fine. Yesterday, we installed a start-x remote start kit. Simple process and it appears to working fine for starting. It was a plug and play install.

Last night we drove back in the dark on a dark rural road and the high beams wouldn't work. Turning on the high beams by pushing the lever doesn't light the high beams or turn on the blue dash light. The rest of the lights appear to be working ok.

If I pull the light lever forward temporarily, the blue dash light comes on and so do the high beams.

I checked the fuses, but it seems obvious that the headlights are working, just not with the high beam switch.

Would I have messed up some of the switch wiring under the steering? Any suggestions for troubleshooting?

Thanks again.

Hello,

Same thing happened to me with the 12Volt.Solutions remote starter install. My guess,at least for my case,is that I forgot to plug some connector back properly.
Do you remember unplugging any connector, other than the one you were supposed to work with?

Thanks. That is good to know that I'm not going completely crazy. I don't remember leaving any connection unplugged. I will take it back apart and look it over. I may uninstall and see if it works without it.

Yea,you might have left something unplugged. I'm guessing your fog lights might not work as well, since I believe they're in the same module as the high beams.

As a follow up answer. One pin was bent on the white T plug that came from the manufacturer. It was one on the outside edge of the plug. It was surprising that only one bent and thankfully didn't break. Straightened it with tweezers and plugged it back together and everything works.

Glad you got it straightened out (pun intended). Stuff like this can have you chasing your tail :)
