Congratulations to the 2017 owners of the Highlander. What are folks getting for gas mileage? I am interested in what the combined MPG is. If you have city and Highway numbers that would be a bonus. What model do you have?

I checked Fuelly.com but there are no new postings for 2017 Highlander MPG.

2017 XLE AWD (V6) - after only two tanks of mixed driving in Rhode Island (approximately 30 percent highway, no stop and go traffic) just about 19 mpg combined. Hopefully it will improve after break-in.

""I don't know if that includes the Hybrid, but I gassed up this morning and got 26.9 mpg. That includes some trips with a lot of stop and go/congested driving.""

It is good to hear from Hybrid owners too.

I've been impressed so far with my mileage. I've driven 1156 miles. A couple of trips to Boston. A good mix of highway and stop and go. I've averaged 23.3. I have owned 3 Toyota's with the real time fuel mileage displays and this is the first one that actually displays an average that is worse then I actually get. My Corolla and Rav4 both would show an average 1 to 2 mpg better than I was getting.

We do a lot short drives (less than 1 mile) that do not warm up the engine. Our hybrid is only getting 21.2mpg as of this morning. If I look at the average including a more rounded highway + city, then I'm closer to 25 or 26 mpg.

2017 Highlander Fuel Mileage

Just under 1600 miles on my 2017 Highlander Limited. Daily commute about 3 miles and its still cold in Wisconsin. Have been averaging no better than 16 MPG. SUV rarely gets warmed up (only 1 day that it turned off at a red light). Recent 600 mile trip on highway averaged 23 MPG with over 95% interstate highway miles. Generally disappointed in this lackluster result.

Just remember that the '17 came out last fall, so there's no real world driving data for spring & sumer driving yet. Our '16 has just under 18000 miles on it and is just over a year old and its coverall average is 20.2mpg using 90/10 ethanol. I know the EPA hi way mpg figure for the '17 is like 27 vs 24 for the 16 so it will be interesting what the '17's really get once the weather warms up.

I was expecting the mpg calculated to be lower than what the car calculated, but one was higher and the other was lower. They both were about 0.5 mpg off.
Easily due to variations in how full your tank was each time. To really get a good handle on semi-precise MPG, you need to duplicate the conditions of re-fueling as closely as possible. THEN, you have to assume the gas pump is delivering the volume it indicates on the pump. Any variation will affect your calculation.

We have a little over 600 miles on our '17 and we're getting 20.3 average combined. Most of that was out on the road and not in town and being real easy on the gas pedal. We were told that with the 8 speed tranny and the new engine that it would be better than that. We love the car but the mileage is pretty disappointing.
