I was all excited about the HID mod for the 2017 highlander, however I just checked and now they added a dust cover on the low beam :(
bummer
say what? explain @XenonDepot
You can still install the HID kit in your vehicle but you would need to drill a 1" hole in the dust cover to send the extra parts and wires to the outside. We provide a rubber grommet to seal this hole and the rest of the kit is still plug n play.

Has there been anyone actually install the LED H11s on a 2017 yet? Is there a trick to screwing the H11s into the housing? Also, it looks like it's going to be a tight fit between the heat sink and dust cover.

Update: I'd really like to here if anyone has installed th xtreme LED kit on the 17s. I'm not convinced there's adequate clearance in the headlight housing for the bulb base let alone the heat sink mesh.

I installed two Auxbeam F-16 H11s on my 2017 HL.
It was very hard to screw them in and impossible to turn the wire to downward position.
It's also impossible to put the dust covers back so I just leave them uncovered.

However, I tried to install them on my friend's 2017 HL and it took me only seconds for each side.
Which led me to believe Toyota slightly changed the length of the bulb.
Otherwise I can't explain why it was so easy to install on the 2017 HL.

Now I'm thinking about returning the Auxbeam if I can.

Maybe we should wait for aftermarket merchants to figure it out.

How was the light output of the Auxbeam? Brighter? Is the color identical to the LED DRL? I have the same model but haven't had the chance to install them.

Thanks!

I did not notice any significant boost in brightness on my way home from friend's house.
In fact, I didn't see any white light coming out of my low beams while I was on the busy highway here in NYC.
After I pulled into my driveway I was able to see the white LED lights on my driveway gate.
It looked bright but it was weird enough that I barely noticed it on the road.

Also, after several thoughts I decided to buy the XLE instead of XLE Hybrid and SE.
So no LED DRL for me :(
Not sure if there will be any aftermarket LED DRL available in the future and not sure if how that will work as for XLE the DRL and high beam share the same connectors.

I kinda regret not getting the xle hybrid, i got the xle 2017.
why is that you chose the xle over the hybrid ?

Sales told me the resale value on the hybrid version is generally lower and I was also told that after the 8yr/100k warranty expires, it will cost several thousands to just replace the battery.

Yeah, that dust cover kinda blows the possibility of having a LED light there as it would effect the cooling. Do the HID's need cooling ?
As long as the flexible heat sinks are spread out then they will dissipate the heat properly even in a closed housing.

You're not able to insert the bulb in the housing and lock it in at all? Have you tried to swap the o-rings between the halogen and LED bulbs?

Unfortunately not as we haven't got much feedback for the 2017 models yet.

If you guys are able to provide any pictures to help that would be appreciated.

...
I took a tape measure and measured about 5 inches of depth into the projector chamber so that shouldn't be an issue. I can get the bulb into the housing, the 3 tabs feel like they're clearing the notches, and I can feel the o-ring compressing, but the bulb will not turn to lock. I tried with the o-ring from the stock halogen bulb, with no o-ring at all, and no luck. It's a tight squeeze in there so there's really not a good way to see what exactly's keeping it from clearing but the LED base feels like it's flush up against the top of the headlight housing. I wrestled with it for about another hour today and all I was accomplishing was getting particles from the socket in the projector chamber. I can say the stock bulb goes in without much fuss.

It might be worth ordering a headlight assembly and verifying fitment before blessing the kit for the 17's.
