I suggest looking at a wiring diagram then a parts diagram.
Could you point me to where i might find one? I didnt see anything in the stickys.I suggest looking at a wiring diagram then a parts diagram.
Hey there. My Le has the upgraded rear camera, push button start and a couple other little upgrades but it has the completely manual climate control. I saw the automatic controls on ebay for around $75, the port on the back of both seems to be the same. Does anyone know if i could just swap it in, or is there other wiring that would prevent this from working.
I ordered the part a few weeks ago and should have been delivered last Tuesday, but UPS states my package is in limbo. Once it finally comes in I'll post an update.Hey there.
have you had any progress with this? Thinking of doing the same to my 2019LE.
Keep us posted! Been wanting to swap it out on my LE as well. Very curious to know if it’ll actually work on our trims.UPDATE:
Bit of a pain in the ass, but I'll see if it comes in by the end of the week if not I'll purchase another one since I'm extremely curious if it'll work or not.
SE, while automatic, it doesn’t have dual-zone climate - just single zone. With other generations of Camrys- the manual climate control doesn't have any of those sensors built-in. I can't imagine that Toyota would put those sensors in cars that don't have the dual-zone automatic controls from the factory.
With that said- I look forward to seeing what happens when you plug the automatic control panel in. That dual-zone automatic climate control panel has an MSRP of around $800. ($500ish online). If you found it on Ebay for $75- that's a steal.
I recall seeing write ups for previous generation Camrys, I believe the most recent is the 7th Generation, and other Toyota models such as the Tundra, but I don’t recall coming across a write up for the 8th Generation. But you are correct in the sense of needing more than just the control unit in previous generations, but we’ll see how it turns out for the 8th. It’s a fun little experiment especially after I learned how easy the unit is to swap out after I was messing with the wiring behind my radio a few weeks ago. This swap has been discussed at length for the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th Generation Camry. The cost of the upgrade is usually extremely cost-prohibited and usually involves buying sensors and a bunch of other stuff.
Did your dealership tell you that all you needed to do is swap out the control panel? Did they mention anything else that needs to be added or swapped?

Awesome!!!!!!I ordered another one and I just swapped it in. 2 minutes of work to replace the old one and....
drum roll
IT WORKS!!
No additional anything. As far as I'm aware this has nothing special added to it to make it work. Just a simple swap in. I'll be uploading a video here in a bit to show me working it. I only really sat in my car for a few minutes as I'm still in the middle of work right now, but from what I felt it got cold, and it got hot as I changed the temperature. I'll do some driving around later tonight to 100% confirm it, but for now, I'd say it's a success!
EDIT:
Okay here's the video. Not the best demonstration of it working, like I said, I only had a few minutes to really test it and show it off. I can demonstrate it working better potentially when I get off work here in 2 hours if need be. But I don't know what else to say besides the fact that it works. ¯\(ツ)/¯
Hopefully it works for you too!Awesome!!!!!!Just ordered one as well.
It looks like it would. But I can't 100% confirm.Does anyone know if this part number will also fit a 2021? I’m not sure if it’s the same shape as they moved the screen to the top. I tried to look up part numbers to see if they were the same but all I’m seeing are accessories for 2021s on the parts direct site :-(
Would love to update my 2021.

I went to a few Toyota parts sites and popped the part number in. It shows 2021 so I went ahead and ordered one. Wish me luck! For the price I may give it a shot. Can you send me the ebay link? If you can’t post it can you pm me it?
Thanks!

It's been working great the last few days! Hopefully, it works for you as well.I went to a few Toyota parts sites and popped the part number in. It shows 2021 so I went ahead and ordered one. Wish me luck!
Has it been working well for you?
Also how hard was it to pop the current climate control out? Any screws or just a trim removal tool? Any additional parts that needed to be removed to get the display out?

I can find the part number for the one I had installed in my car originally later today, but the one I installed is "55900-06480".Can you post both part numbers from the back of the controllers for other members that want to attempt this conversion?
