They didn't have a master key, they had an oversized socket and a big-ass hammer which is all it takes to remove a wheel lock.

Anyway, sorry this happened and hopefully your insurance takes care of you.

Dc area is the pits. That's why I live way in the burbs. Cars tucked in the garage traffic is awful but you don't worry about guys messing with your car. Hope they get your stuff back and insurance steps in asap!!!
Yup that’s why I stay far in the sticks. They still do that sort of thing but it’s a lot less frequent. Besides, out here in the sticks folks mostly have guns. It’s not the most effective deterrent but gives many of them something to think about. As long as your powers that be won’t give these guys real prison sentences they have no reason to stop.

Same thing happened to my SE a few months ago in NJ

Make sure to have the dealer check for damage under the car. The theives didn't prop up my car properly when they stole the wheels, so they damaged one of the axles and a few other things in the process. Total damage was about $7,000. Thank god for insurance...

I bought Gorilla Guard wheel locks after the incident (12mm x 1.50 thread size for my "18 inch wheels). They are supposed to be harder for theives to defeat because you can't just bang a socket and hammer against them like most standard wheel locks.
