2 days ago, I did an upgrade to my new 2018 Highlander LE truck. I've been watching Toyota's virtual tour looking for any cheap but looking good upgrade to do on my truck. I then decided to check prices for the ambient lights at Toyota. Is not clear to me if they don't sell them separately but I didn't find a part number for it except the whole door panel price which is above $400. Yes, you can imagine my reaction [email protected]#$%^&*&^%$#@. The whole process is explained in details at the video but if you have any question let me know.

Notes not found on the video that you might want to know are:
* The windows and lock control frame is easier to be removed from the back since once you pop that rear end, the whole thing comes out.
* The puddle light at the bottom of the door panel came out a couple of times and its kind of confusing to put it back if you didn't take it out in purpose.

Here is the video link at so you can watch it and the part used from eBay too.

DIY Highlander 2014-2018 Electric Tailgate Lift Assist System

Hello, again guys! is been since Thanksgiving my last post. I'm passing by to leave the link of the next project for my new 2018 Highlander LE truck. As you might know, this model doesn't come with the electric liftgate supports. So again, I've been watching Toyota's virtual tour looking for any cheap but looking good upgrade to do on my truck and I decided to check prices for the liftgates support system. [email protected]#$%^& AGAIN!!! they are asking too much for it, it is almost $375 per support, that is ridiculous, more than $700 for the liftgates supports only. Don't take me wrong, OEM is OEM and you might agree with me that it makes sense to keep it with OEM parts while I can since this is a new truck right. However, to make it work the way is supposed, that means adding the liftgate sensor, the liftgate button, the dashboard button, and the module too it will be really expensive, and I haven't mentioned the installation either. Therefore, my next project will be to install it myself. I'll post later how it goes and the whole installation video for you guys. Let's be clear, it is an aftermarket part but it'll do the job.

Here the link of the item on eBay for you: http://www.ebay.com/itm/123654772464
