Hello all,
I am approaching 30k miles on my HL and obviously done with the free Toyota oil changes. Is the 2grFKS(2018 HL V6) and 2grFe(my 2012 Camry V6) oil changes basically the same other than oil capacity and I think the same filter? I would imagine they are, just wanted to check ahead of time before getting into it.

Also, the dealer I bought from has a "Lifetime powertrain warranty" and I was told(back when I bought my HL) the only stipulation is I have to get it serviced by a certified mechanic(not necessarily the Toyota dealer) to keep that warranty active. I have an email to them for the "fine print" on this as I like to do my own maintenance and if its next to impossible to actually use that warranty if/when I need it, I will just void it now and start doing my own maintenance.
Here is directly off their website: Are things like this just a gimmick for the most part and probably worthless if you actually need powertrain work?

Jon, oil change between the two V6 engines are basically the same; specific oil filters (04152-YZZA1, non-hybrid), best that you verify either via online stores or Toyota parts department.

As far as the life time powertrain warranty, as you know engine is a part of it, so if you DIY on oil & filter changes (assuming you are not a certified mechanic), best check with your dealer that if you keep all the oil & "Toyota" filter purchase receipts and document each maintainence would that be sufficient and continue to qualify for the life time warranty.

Side note, who carries on the life time warranty if one day your dealership changes ownership or even relocated?

I can't say for certain but I'd surprised if it isn't. My wife's 07 Lexus with same engine uses the same filter....so I'll bet the 2012 Camry does too.

You do NOT need a Toyota (Denso) filter to maintain warranty. Any quality filter and oil that meets the specs will do.

Yes, I feel the same way; but, to avoid giving the dealers any reason/excuse to point fingers and "dodge" ? the warranty, I suggested staying with "Toyota".

Personally, I am running out of those OEM filters given to me by my dealer, and am shopping for aftermarket oil filter for my 2016 HL, likely to go with either PureOne or WIX...

P.S. I quoted "dodge" as that is a frequent/funny response from one of the members.
