Recently bought a brand new 2019 Camry Hybrid SE in the infamous Blue Streak Metallic. I owned a 2000 Camry Solara SE for 19 years until this purchase. Since 6/30/19, I have put down about 350 miles on it and I started to notice that the AC controls were overriding my choices! I do own a 2017 Prius V Three in Silver and only encountered the circulation turning off once or twice and never kept the AC in auto mode. The Camry has become very obnoxious and I checked with the Toyota Dealer and tried some changes. Sadly, turning the AC Auto ON/OFF feature off in the car environment controls does squat! I dug deep into the owners manual starting from page 350 to about 359. LO AND BEHOLD, Toyota decides to make the decision without your choice to cut the AC and turn off the circulation. I live by ranches and I keep everything sealed!!

Today's home commute from work, it was almost 85F outside and I had the AC set to 70 and it was refusing to blow cold air. Before I started driving out, I turned off the ECO mode to normal and it was still behaving the same. So my drive home, I was enjoying 85F ambient air blowing into the cabin. Called the Toyota Dealer and unfortunately, I'll be waiting tomorrow morning for the service dept to call me.

Getting ready to call this a Lemon even after suffering the wait to get this car in blue!

I searched far and wide through this forum and elsewhere and so far, the only complaint was that the HVAC was a cold potato in the UK's winter season from a KBB review. Any others that have this experience!?

I just purchased a 2019 Hybrid LE and the AC is very cold, in fact over the past several days of very hot and humid weather here in the Washington DC area we actually had to set the AC at 75 degrees and it was still so cold in the car that my wife put a sweater over her legs. I wonder if there's something wrong with your AC unit.

Where does it say that Toyota overrides your settings? I read entire AC chapter, not a word about it. They are not much different from my 07 TCH and 12 HiHy. I see no reason - unless it's shut down by error or is malfunctioning - for AC not to work as it should.

From Page 357 I highlighted the red points of concern. Toyota Dealership Service will be waiting to take my Camry once I drop it off from my evening commute. Couldn't test the AC system this morning as it was humid and light fog at a low of 65F for North San Diego.

Outside/recirculated air mode
●When driving on dusty roads such as tunnels or in heavy traffic, set the outside/
recirculated air mode button to the recirculated air mode. This is effective
in preventing outside air from entering the vehicle interior. During
cooling operation, setting the recirculated air mode will also cool the vehicle
interior effectively.
●Outside/recirculated air mode may automatically switch depending on the
temperature setting or the inside temperature.
■When the outside temperature exceeds 75°F (24°C) and the air conditioning
system is on
●In order to reduce the air conditioning power consumption, the air conditioning
system may switch to recirculated air mode automatically. This may also
reduce fuel consumption.
●Recirculated air mode is selected as a default mode when the power switch
is turned to ON mode.
●It is possible to switch to outside air mode at any time by pressing .
■When the outside temperature is low
The dehumidification function may not operate even when is pressed.
■Operation of the air conditioning system in Eco drive mode
●In the Eco drive mode, “ECO” is displayed on the air conditioning screen
and the air conditioning system is controlled as follows to prioritize fuel efficiency:
• Engine speed and compressor operation controlled to restrict heating/
cooling capacity
• Fan speed restricted when automatic mode is selected
●To improve air conditioning performance, perform the following operations:
• Adjust the fan speed
• Turn off Eco drive mode
■Ventilation and air conditioning odors
●To let fresh air in, set the air conditioning system to the outside air mode.
●During use, various odors from inside and outside the vehicle may enter into
and accumulate in the air conditioning system. This may then cause odor to
be emitted from the vents.
●To reduce potential odors from occurring:
• It is recommended that the air conditioning system be set to outside air
mode prior to turning the vehicle off.
• The start timing of the blower may be delayed for a short period of time
immediately after the air conditioning system is started in automatic
mode.

Dropped off my car at the Toyota Dealership Service area. AC was still blowing ambient cabin air on my drive from work to the dealership. After about 10 miles, the AC and circulation turned off again while on auto mode and was driving in normal mode. About 25 miles from my work to the dealership. Outside was about 85F.

The service manager that was assisting me tested the AC and bunch of other service ppl were checking it out. Heard one of them say pressure was not coming up. Shall see what happens Saturday morning.

Toyota Dealer Service called me close to 12PM PST and told me that the car was ready. Issue was that the AC coolant was technically empty. Factory(?) missed a step to fill it up. The service tech verified that there were no leaks or issues so this was a Quality Assurance error upon delivery to the dealership. My car was technically traded from another dealership to the dealership that I purchased my Camry from. Not sure what points of quality checks occur upon receipt of delivery.

Shall see how my next commute turns out on Monday

What you redenned, is not overriding anything. It is description of normal AC functions, pretty much typical across the entire modern vehicles operation.

As usual, cause was simple, not some evil Toyota algorithm haunting your vehicle.
