SO, my understanding was that the XLE V6 with premium sound, would have fob based remote start longer than 3 years?

It was working right up until I changed the battery. The car has the JBL premium sound system iirc. CD player and subwoofer.....NO nav

Is it a quirk of changing the battery or is it a feature they killed after 36 months. Purchased black friday, 2019

I think the battery swap was a coincidence or took the car offline long enough to require ya to pay for it now.

I have it, but the fob only works from about 30 feet away max, and it shuts off when I open the door so I don't even use the feature. I am about 15 months in on a 2022 SE.

no it does not. I press 3 times and hold on the third and it does not flash the lights like it did before....

I guess my question shifts to 'what audio package do I have?' if I have JBL with CD and subwoofer?

Can one tell from a VIN?

Well there was this whole shit show with Toyota where cars wouldn't remote start without subscription, even when using 3x lock on oem remote. Whole PR fiasco but i don't think Toyota did anything as they claimed that DCM controls remote start so subscription must be active.

Nah, I've been fob-starting awhile...

You have audio plus because premium audio only comes with built-in NAV. Key fob remote start will work for 3 years before you need to subscribe to remote connect to reenable it.

There has been various information published about the issue, but nothing definitive that I have found. Some info that I found indicated that remote start from the fob would work as long as you had some type of subscription or trial, including Service Connect which is included as a trial for 10 years with many Toyota models.

My 18 camry xse v6 still starts via 3 clicks.

sent a dissatisfied email to toyota.

Screw having the equipment on my car and after 3 years paying for it.

I'll pay the $225 for an add-on system that uses the factory fob.
