Hey all!

Just upgraded from a 99 Camry to a 22 corolla. I have 3 things that are bugging me and I don't know if they are problems or if they are normal.

1. When coming to a stop, you can feel the CVT shift at around 10 MPH, it then idles rough around 3 MPH until stopped when it idles at 500RPM. I can feel the vibration when coming to a stop and it starts around 3 MPH.

2. A click noise occurs when accelerating from a stop. There is normal a click, click when starting to accelerate as well as when I am coming to a stop. This is before the CVT shifts from its physical 1st gear to the CVT. It is immediate when accelerating. If the A/C is on, the click goes away.

3. I saw a post on this, but the high frequency noise when the A/C is on is terrible. Can this be confirmed it is due to the smaller cabin air filter? I took the smaller cabin air filter out and ran the air with no filter and still heard the noise. Just want to make sure there is no harm being done by running it.

I appreciate all the help!

I have a 21' SE and I do notice without A/C the idle being so low causes the engine to feel like it is vibrating or stumbling. A/C on I never notice it. I feel like they tuned the idle too low when 0 accessories are on.
As for other noises. I have not noticed that. Nor have I Noticed any A/C high freq noise.
A few here will tell you to use 91 octane for vibration during acceleration. I tried that for couple tanks and I personally noticed no difference. Your own experience might be different. So might be something to consider. But I never felt like there was an issue with my car during acceleration.

Vibration with the CVT was normal and it did it all the time....used to have a 2020 CVT until I realised I could sell it and get into a hatch for zero loss  Thanks COVID-market I guess? Without A/C it didn't really do it.

I can confirm the high pitched noise. On both sedan and hatches, dual A/C and single A/C. I literally just stopped working at a Toyota dealer so I'm pretty sure they all have it AFAIK. Remedies I found were to not use the 4th "bar" of the A/C and if its making the noise, go full speed and back down to the fan setting you want, a lot of the times that can stop it. Though I haven't noticed mine in quite some time....

Clicking not so much, none that I drove did that, is it engine noise or HVAC noise?

Sounds more like an engine noise. Also, what does AFAIK mean?

the first issue you have is the same thing i am having in my 2022 le. I feel the shift at exact 8-10 mph. The rough idle is normal because of the engine design. It sucks but there is no fix. Trust me i have been to the dealers many times and the clicking/clunk noise is coming from the torque converter 100 percent. My friend works for toyota dealership and told me that 2020 and 2021 toyota corolla are having major torque converter problems. People are bringing new corollas everyday. I believe 2022 is the same they didnt change anything. This and the shuddering/jerking when pressing accelerator is a defect. Waiting for toyota to come up with a fix. But they definetely know whats going on.

When my A/C is on that click noise is minimal/gone. What is the reason for this?? Also what could be causing the shuttering/jerking do you know??

i hear the click even when the ac is on, just not as loud because ac sound and engine getting louder because of ac makes u hear the click less. The shuddering/jerking is faulty torque converter. Toyota knows about this and has not came out with a replacement fix yet. My 2012 toyota camry se brand new used to do the same thing and using “lubegard shudder fixx” fixed it. But can’t use “lubegard” on cvt transmissions.

Where did you hear/see this from?
There is no 'faulty' torque converter.

You can solve the shuddering problem by turning off torque body acceleration with an OBD2 and Clarista. Shuttering bothered me until I turned it off and now the car is perfect.

If you already have an OBD2 like ELM all you have to do is download the app, sign up for the clarista app free trial, turn off torque body acceleration and then unsubscribe from clarista and its all free.

If you don't have an OBD2 youll have to get one.

the mechanic at the toyota dealership that drove the car with me at the test drive told me. Trust me I couldn't believe it too. That’s why u see a lot of used 2020 and 2021 corollas for sale. Some people just lose interest in driving a car with that problems. I am putting for sale too. If i can sale if for almost same price i got it for, I will get a rav 4 2022.

I have 2022 Corolla SE model and I hear a noise sound like when you switch your radio channel from one to another.
I recoded a video while driving and the noise is very clear in the video, this strange sound coming from the dashboard.
to be more specific is coming from the left Airshafts next to the driving wheel.
sometimes this sound is very loud sometimes not, also sometimes happened every day and sometimes once every few days.

the car is bran new with only 5k miles and I took 03 times to 2 different dealers and both dealers (Toyota North Brunswick and Toyota Dayton, the Toyota dealer in Dayton had the chance to inspect it twice and they said they don't hear any noise
they are saying this just to cover themselves however while I was on the phone with one of the staff working for the corporation, she heard the Noice, but she doesn't know what is this noise?
now the whole situation went to a lemon vehicle law. And I'm waiting on one of the higher ups to take a decision.
but my advice to anyone willing to buy this vehicle is think twice before buying.
