I was thinking about trading in my Taco for the FJ, they will give me $22,000 for mine but come off the price of the FJ only $800.00. I told them I m not gonna take a truck with less options than what I have now. I owe $11,000.00 on my truck, the FJ is $12,000.00 over that. I said no thanks. I did take that FJ wheelin that thing is unstoppable. They prolly werent happy when I brought it back muddy

When looking for a dealership as well look for one with a large used car lot. They will most likely give you a better price on your trade than a dealer with no used car lot. Those dealers would have to sell your truck at wholesale vs selling on their own lot.

take it to carmax if you have one nearby, they will give you a true wholesale price, may or may not be what you want to hear but it will give you a basis to measure against your toyota dealer offers...

also remember you don't pay taxes on the 22k trade in value which save you over 1k with 5% sales tax versus retailing it yourself...

Dealers will always low ball you because they in turn have to try and sell it to someone else. Obviously they will want to make some money on the deal, and leave room for negotiation with the next guy. Your best bet if you're serious is sell it privately. Tacoma's are super easy to sell. When I sold my 2000 the very first day I had it up for sale I had 6 calls, and it took me less then a week to actually get rid of it. It all happened so fast in fact that it had me a little concerned for a few days, I wasn't sure my 05 was going to be in before I handed over the keys of my 2000 to the new owner. If you sell privately I will bet you can get within a few thousand of what you paid for it new.

Why don't you just tell them; You are a returning customer and if they don't appreciate your business then you will go elsewhere! I'm Sure they will see the light! The way you buy cars? That would be a big loss for them if you went somewhere else!!
