My brown 1987 camry wagon was stolen today, with a lot of my christmas gifts inside. It was stolen on the north side of Chicago. There are no distinguishing things about it, except that it has the toyota "world" badge from the later 2nd gens on the '87 chrome grill. If you see it around please email me.

What the? Who the fuck steals a Toyota... and on top of that, an old Camry WAGON!

That sucks for you, dude. I don't know about the Chicagoland area, but around here, Hondas are hot, and nothing else. I feel completely confident parking my car anywhere outside of southwest Detroit and knowing it won't get stolen.

yea, gen2 camry has been on the top list of stolen cars for a long time, add on top the christmas gifts in the back and you're almost asking for it. Really sucks though, hate to hear that right before christmas. Some people just need to be dragged out and shot.

much further down the list now...

that list of top stolen cars was cited from a 1999 report. When I last saw a report, the gen2 had fallen from the list.

That's not to diminish stricular's loss. Sorry, that is terrible.

Of course the Gen2 Camry fell off on the list......it's an older 4 door sedan, not like the older collectibles like Vettes or Mustangs of yore, which tend to become MORE desirable with age.

Yep, I can remember back in the day when Camrys and Maximas were the hot shiot to steal.

I was quite surprised to see the old Camrys topping the list in 1999, you'd think there would be something newer / more desirable on the list. They must be easy to steal.

Damn, sorry to hear man...I know exactly how you feel, my 88 Camry I4 sedan was stolen a couple months ago, but i got it back the next night at 2:30 am. I had a computer with all the pics from the first 6 months of my sons life on it along with a bunch of other things including a sub, amp and cd deck (I was in the process of moving at the time).

In my area, the recovery rate is very very high, its rare not to get your car back around here. Mine was parked at a mall right accross the street from where I was living at the time in the Bank of Montreal parking lot.

Did you end up getting it back? Let us know. Good luck.

You learned the hard way, ROBS. But I can't stress enough: have multiple backups of important docs and pics!! A computer, and especially a laptop, is a highly unsecure place to store such items.

Ya, i know...I had actually been planning to do that in the next day or so, but I was too late. Luckily, the really important ones like at the hospital and some others, i had emailed to family and friends, so i did get those back, but damn, I had hundreds on there, along with some vids too.
