Hi everyone, I‘ve got a 91 ES 250 and the transmission is blown on it. I’m about to pull it but I’m having trouble finding information on the transmission it self. I’m new to this format I tried to search but nothing seems to come up on my attempts. Any information would be appreciated thanks in advance. Also might consider doing a swap of some sort any ideas would be great I know these cars aren’t fire breathers but it’s what I have and it’s super unique.

The transmission type is right on the door sticker (driver's b-pillar) - and yes, it is an A540E. You can use one from a Camry V6 or ES250. The external fit of the A540E is the same from '88 all the way into the 2000's... but I think you'll want to find one from an '88-'91 Camry V6/ES250.

The ‘92 & ‘93 V6 Camry also used the A540E in combo with the 3VZ-FE engine, so that would likely also work. In ‘94 they switched to the A541E combined with the newer 1MZ-FE engine.

Awesome guys thanks for all the information now it’s time to locate one at the pic a part. I’m not sure what’s next for this car might just sell it but I’m seriously thinking of using it to learn amateur rallying anything I should be aware of with this engine? I know it’s not race car of any kind but hey it’s what I’ve got for now.

The engine likes to eat bottom end bearings and sometimes blow headgaskets. Keep the oil in good shape (consider a 5w40) and cooling system maintained (regularly changed coolant, don't let it overheat). If you are going to race with an auto, make sure you have a trans cooler on there too.
