Yesterday afternoon I picked up the Avalon I've been talking to you guys about over the last week or so. Now the fun begins. Actually, it began last night but we'll get to that later. I realize that

Initial plans for the car:
- Do maintenance (fresh synthetic oil & oil filter, & air filter, cabin air filter)
- Have minor scuffs on bumpers, ect taken care of by a professional body shop
- Replace broken/worn interior pieces:

I won't touch the suspension unless it's needed to make the wheels I put on later look right. It rides just right for the purpose is serves for me. I've got my Talon for cornering on rails. It has a JIC coilover setup, similar to what you have in mind for your Avalon.I hope you have suspension plans. This thing rides soft as baby s***.

Thanks for the info KoG, however I need the map light assembly, not the bulb. I don't know how but this one has been damaged... one of the buttons doesn't work at all and the other halfway works.

Maybe check at your local junk yard? pretty sure they have at least an avalon.
"Rides like baby stuff". That can be a good thing.
I'd include an OEM PCV in your maintenance list, these engines have a horrendous history with sludge.

Still no pics, but only because I haven't slowed down since I picked the car up. All of the speakers (front doors, rear doors, and in-dash tweeters), the headunit, and the amplifier have been replaced. A new subwoofer and amplifier are on the way, it will probably be early next week before I've got 'em. I'll enjoy the break... I've had enough car audio installation fun to last me a while...

Thanks to ChiTDI I have been connected to a dealer that can provide me all of the OEM parts I need, at 30% off Toyota's recommended pricing. Very reasonable shipping quotes too. If anyone needs his contact info, let me know and I'd be happy to pass it along.
Today I replaced the cabin air filter and it looks like it had NEVER been replaced. I saved it to show my buddies, I'll have to upload a picture of it. I also replaced the intake air filter (just used another oem type drop in), thankfully it was in much better condition. I've got a belt squealing on cold starts that I need to tighten up this weekend (either alternator or power steering) and I want to go ahead and makes sure I've got some fresh oil in the engine, with of course a new filter. After that, maintenance will be done for now. I've been slacking on getting you guys some pictures, but you really aren't missing much. On the outside, it's 100% stock and the only visual modification on the interior is the new head unit.
Also, I added a "Mods List" to my first post on the thread, I plan on keeping it updated as I make modify the vehicle.

Suspension choice is all about what you want to do with the car, if you want coilovers you are making a good choice with the JIC's.The soft suspension makes this car a superior highway cruiser but in my case it puts me to sleep. Project threads are a huge part of the main DSM forum I've on, so I thought I'd bring the concept over here and try to build some interest. Each of us should have a thread like this. :thumbsup:
I just got home from purchasing supplies for an oil change and I will be adding an OEM PCV to my Toyota parts order. In regards to pics from the audio system install, were you wanting pictures of the work in progress? If so I did not take them. Right now all there is to see is the headunit.

I'm afraid you're too late on that, but everything was essentially drop in. The only thing I really had to get creative was fabricating some sheet metal brackets for the tweeters. I had to rack my brain for a few minutes on that one, but my buddy gave me the idea and I went after it. It worked very nicely.I want to see behind the door panels.
Can you fit 4" speakers in the rear door easily ? I already have Type R 6.5" for the front soundstage.

28% tint (local legal limit) installed all around this afternoon, still working on getting everything just right on the audio setup. No pics, we've had horrible weather lately.
