Has anyone with a 2020 also owned a previous generation hybrid highlander with the 6 cylinder? I own a 2017 hybrid and also had a 1st and 2nd gen. I know the 4th gen has better gas mileage and much improved interior, but I’m concerned about the power of the smaller gas engine. I loved the previous gens because they have so much instant torque jumping into traffic. Or accelerating from 40-60, or any other situation that needs a quick burst of power. How is that with the 2020? Based on what I’ve read from generic reviews, I’ll probably switch to a different vehicle when I get my next car. Anyone with real world experience in both models have some input? Again, I don’t care about better gas mileage or better interior. Without the quick acceleration I’m used to, those mean nothing to me.

I don't own one, but just curious what are you cross-shopping this with? Would you consider the Lexus RX hybrid? It has a V6. I really dislike the Lexus interior, so I probably will not consider the Lexus personally.

I like the Lexus. But it costs considerably more. After 3 highlander hybrids, It’s time for a change. I like the GMC Sierra Slt. But I still have about 3 years left on my 2017 highlander. I will sell it myself with About 1 year and about 20,000 miles left in my extended platinum warranty. .

Will the extended warranty transfer to the new owner with payment of a transfer fee?
GMC is not going to be as reliable for sure. What about a Honda Ridgeline?
Yes.platinum warranty is transferable. I’ve had them on previous highlanders and never had to use the warranty. But they do help sell it when a car is 6-7 years old with 80,000 miles. the Honda Ridgeline Has low tow capacity and isn’t a real truck. We have a rv trailer we pull with a smaller gmc truck. But we are eventually getting a bigger trailer, so will also need a bigger truck. And that will become my daily driver. I want to be a truck guy again. I sold my last v-8 truck(and got a hybrid) when gas was over $4 a gallon years ago. With my luck, as soon as I sell the hybrid, gas prices will go to $4+ again.

Yeah if you're doing any serious towing you can forget about the Ridgeline. As you know it's not designed for that at all. I like the RAM trucks because they have a smooth quiet ride, at least on the 1/2 ton models. And they do offer a mild hybrid. But if you're going the heavy duty 3/4 or 1-ton truck route, it might not make any difference.

Yes. Ram is nice. The last V-8 truck I sold was a 1500 with a Hemi. It got about 8 mpg. Ha. Newer rams Do have good tow capacity, But the payload is lower than gmc or Ford. In my experience, rams do have a better ride and great tech, but they seem to fall apart sooner( every Mopar I’ve ever owned starts getting issues after 60,000 miles) . What id really like to have is the Tesla Truck. Tremendous pulling power, payload, tech and speed. And not much more $ than a fully loaded gmc Slt. But I’m not getting on the waiting list for a 1st year model. Maybe after they’ve been out for a little while.

CyberTruck is very interesting. I'm not an early adopter, so I'd probably be more comfortable with waiting for the second year on something like that. RAM reliability is definitely a weak point, along with the rest of FCA.
