:confused:i have a toyota pickup with a v6 5spd 3vz-e engine and when i got it the timng belt wasnt on and im not exactly sure of how to make sure it was in time b4 i put the new belt on plz help me:confused:

The link above will give you the steps for aligning the timing gears when replacing the timing belt. Basically, there are marks on each gear that have to align with marks on the engine block when putting on the belt. It's not that hard if your follow the directions as listed. Once installed, make sure you turn the crank by hand (with a sprocket) two complete revolutions to make sure everything is still aligned. Sometimes everything seems to be aligned at first glance, but shifts just a bit after turning the engine. By turning it by hand, you can see if it happens before you reassemble everything. Also, you won't need to worry about bent valves as the V6 is a non-interference engine. Hope it helps.
