So it has finally come time for the 4A-GE to go in after my misfortune that happened on tuesday, my 3E developing a very loud rod knock, but luckly i made it home from Kitchener, I started some work today taking it apart but im still waiting to hear back from a buddy for this engine lif, so here is where it ends for today

so now that the 3E is pooped it gives me an excuse to throw this engine in sooner than expected, just need to buy some more parts, but for the most part the engine is complete,

The 3E :(

And the old/new engine for this car, bought the whole setup for 250$ from s1495 about a year ago

Engine is 91 Corolla GTS, the Hi-comp version of the 4A-GE, im looking forward to getting more work done very soon,

Yep i was thinking of going that route if i were to go turbo, i have a bigport bluetop sitting under the bench if i ever do decide to go that way,

Yes i was thinking of cutting the drivers rail but i want to keep the Tercel axles because i heard that custom axles are a bit pricey, so im gunna drill and tap some holes in the C52 and use the Tercel axles and cut the passenger frame rail, id like to get the engine mounted this week, then my buddy whos a Toyota Tech is gunna help me out with the wiring:clap:

yeah the axles will fit the way i plan to do it, so i wont have to worry about them, im just gunna run N/A for a little while, im gunna get some GZE pistons for it when i rebuild the engine, but for now im just running how it is, im also curious what a stock 4ag in a Tercel would do in a 1/4 mile

The Corolla transmission bolts up to the stock Tercel mounts in most cases however the engine is slightly longer so a little clearance is needed on the passenger side. You wouldn't want to relocate the transmission because that would call for custom axles.
By the way, look at Paseo axles when you stop by a parts store. I've heard they are slightly beefier than Tercel axles but fit in place.

Nice! no more slow pokin' it on that Tercel. :D

Let me know if you run into a decent smallport, I might opt to go this way if it ends up being a lot cheaper for me. :)

Did some quick work before the sun went down, I drilled out the holes and tapped them in the C52 and fitted the Tercel mount, also i chopped half the crank harmonic with a hack saw to gain some more clearance before i cut the frame, hope fully tomorrow or friday the engine will be at home in the bay

These photos are for the noobs, so they know where to drill and tap holes to make the transmission bolt-in

Shes comin along nicely now, after i get paid i need to buy some stuff for it and replace a bunch of seals, because i aint having another engine that leaks oil,

:smokin::thankyou:

The first attempt for fitment

The infamous frame cut, there definatly isnt enough room for the alternator, som re-locating it to the front of the engine

Need to finecse the firewall with a hammer a bit to better clear the TPS

The exhaust manifold clears the rad nicely

a better pic of the end of the day

i cant see the pics cause my work blocks everything and anything, but i just wanted to say, best of luck..

and yes the paseo axes and cvs are larger than the tercels

last thing, when positioning in the bay, allow room for motor movement as when those mounts wear out a little, you will get quite a bit of movement when the motor revs up cause of torquing..
