ive seen the 4x4 bumpers and the 2wd bumpers , they both look to be the same size and almost identical. the reason im asking is i just bought a 2wd bumper recently and i want to use a 4x4 grill like on mushroom toy's truck with 4x4 fenders with my 2wd bumper and valance. is this possible? im guessing that it should be a perfect fit but im not exactly sure. i know the fenders will fit with the 2wd front end except the corners are diffderent i just dont want to have tp buy a new front end again if i cen save the bumper and valance it would be cool.

by the way my truck is comming along last week i bolted on a new bed that is in alot beter condition than the old one and we swapped out rear ends to find out the rear end was not the cause of my vibration . after i do the header this week im going to have the body completely sanded and all the dents filled and fixed and have it painted blue. pics will be comming soon.

Is your truck a 4x4 or 2x4?

The 4x4 bumper is about 2" wider overall and about 1" taller
The 4x4 Valance is about 2" wider overall and about 1/2" taller

If you need meausrments from each i can get them for you... You CAN put a 4x4 Grill on with a 2wd bumper/valance I know for a fact 4x4 stuff fits on the 2wd but im not sure on the vice/versa...

As fars as corners go if your gonna go with 4x4 fenders on a 2wd you will have to get new corner lights..

its a 2wd that im going to lift with the fabtech kit and put on 31's so i want the 4x4 fenders for extra clearance. basicaly i want it to look like the 4x4 with out being a 4x4. eventually i may try to convert it completly to 4wd if i keep it that long.

my bumper is a 2wd bumper along with the valance .

so your saying the bumper is a little bit taller on the 4x4 and it wraps arround slightly more than the 2x4 bumper? if so ill probabally be ok. i see you put the 4x4 fenders on yours, did you have to change the inner fender or did you remove it to prevent rubbing? i am going to the junk yard tomarrow after work to get one fender and both inner fender plastic pieces. im going to order the other one from ebay along with the corners. the corners are very similar to a upside down 2wd corner too bad you cant just flip em.

what im wanting to do after the fenders is the grill like mushroom toy has and use my 2wd bumper and valance on my 2wd and lift it up so it looks similar to the 4wd trucks as i like the way they look better than the smaller 2wd trucks. i already have a low rider s-10 and now i want a toy to use on the trails arround my house and to use for towing my boat and other stuff. there is a wicked trail here that alot of guys run in their dune buggies . it has a jump that sends them 5 to 10 feet off the ground depending on their speed. if i do the suspension mods i plan on it should be able to get a little air maby not that high but you know what im sayin. ive gone back there and bottomed it out a few times and thats when i decided to start this project. it wont be an all out woods truck just capable of going more places a little faster than most 2wd trucks. and yes i am buying a good winch when it comes time. alot of guys like the 2wd pre runner trucks and have encouraged me to build one. or at least try.

you will be good to go man.. The 4x4 fenders will be ok with the 2wd bumpers and valance, the 4x4 grill will also be ok.. But if you want the look of the 4x4 u need to get the bumpers and valance as well.. They look different the 2wd valance has two Vertical bars and one horizontal bar in the center were as the 4x4 valance has 2 vertical and 2 horizontal..

if u have any more question just ask... I had a 94' 4x4 lifted

You will definately need a winch... but here will be a good way to lift it.. You could do bigger torsion bars up front tightened all the way for 2" of lift and do 2" shackles in the back.. You could also do a 3" body lift.. that should clear some 30x9.50's...
here is a pic of a lifted 2wd...

i plan on using the fabtech kit it gives you 4 inch lift spindles new torsion bars and new control arms. the spindles alone are 350 bux with the extended brake lines and allow for 31x10.50 on 15 x 9 wheels with minor trimming. the new torsion bars give you a better ride and allow you to adjust for another 2 to 4 inches of lift and the control arms allow for dual fron shocks. it hase 4 or 6 inch shackles for the rear. the whole kit is like 1000 bux then i will get the tires. alot of plans and plenty of time to get it done right. the look of the grille isnt quite as important i motly just like the grille and the fenders allow more clearance. not nescessary but i need to get the thing painted soon and want to get it the way it will be to save having to re paint later. i really like the silver trucks front end it looks sweet.

Is the white one a DLX, and the silver one an SR5? I'm curious which models have the chrome bumper. Mine's peeling, rusty black - definately a base model. Both those trucks have chrome front bumpers, so I have to assume they're a higher trim level.

But I noticed the silver truck's got the hood scoop and folding mirrors mounted on the corner of the side window, while mine's like the white truck - mounted on the door. So I figure the silver one's an SR5.

Not that I want to change anything, mind you. I'm not into turning this ol' sow's ear into a silk purse. I just want to keep her running. I'm just curious is all.

Thanks,

Well the Silver one, is no where near stock... Those mirrors were added, the front bumper/valance, grill are all off of a 95 4runner as well as the hood.. It was on streetscene.. as well as the white one, which has a new front end as well.. it has a completely chrome front end... so neither of those are stock trim.. I was just posting the pics to see a lifted 2wd... The diffrent trims should be something like this..

AS far as i know.

Base - black bumper/grill door mounted mirrors, black rear bumper
DLX - Chrome bumper/grill, door mounted mirrors, black or chrome rear bumper
SR5 - Chrome bumper/grill, window mounted mirrors, black or chrome rear bumper, with a tach in the dash, and some other fancy stuff...

Doh! :D Those aren't exactly 6054 headlamps, are they? Definately next gen. Very nice, but not for my truck - my wife has enough trouble climbing into the cab of the stock truck, so lift kit is out.

Now, a nice drop might be plausible, but I want to take care of all the other issues my truck has, first, before I go modding it.

Thanks!

Just leave the bumper off. There's a place to mount your license plate on the rear of the bed, without the bumper. Plus! Toyota had you covered when they built the rear bed. The back end looks real good without a bumper. You don't have to remount anything, just remove the bumper.
Also, if you ever go with a body lift, the truck will look like this in the back: (laaaaaaame...) http://www.tecom.usmc.mil/aasbn/images/vehicles/Blue%20Toyota%20Truck2.jpg
(Image was HUGE, so i linked to it...)

Here's what it will look like without a bumper (this is my truck):

Yeah man im definately a fan of a drop.. My truck is on 17's with 3" blocks removed middle leafs, and the torsion bars are turned down.. I took my rear bumper off, and did a 4x4 front end conversion minus the grill... Here is a pic of it...
P.S. the front is a lil high im gettin ready to lower it more in about 10 minutes.

My drop is going to be 4.5" overall at all four corners

Where are the 3" blocks? The rear? I'm a dope on these things.

When you drop the front with the torsion bars, doesn't that mess up the camber?

I don't want to trick out my truck too much. Maybe a little drop to make it easier to get in/out of, and make it easier to put stuff in the bed. Practical without stylin', like you are. :)

Take care,

The blocks go below your axle, you replace the u-bolts and that drops the back.... Lowering with torsion bars throws your alignment off.. SO once you do the t-bars you have to go get an alignment ASAP..

My truck isn't very practical if your wanting good quality without problems.. WHat i mean is that i have a 4 and half inch drop.. My truck drags everywhere.. I have to go over speed bumps at an angle...

If you want a nice stance, you could do 2" blocks in the rear, and match it up with the t-bars
