Hi guys, first time posting here and I'm hoping someone can help me out.

About 6 months ago I bought a 1990 Hilux with the 4Y motor, long story short, went to check the timing and realised the bolt holding the crank pulley on is missing. So I went to Toyota and I can get one in 2 weeks from Japan where I am (New Zealand). However, I don't want to wait that long, so I was thinking of just going to get a bolt to chuck in there in the meantime so at least its safe to drive.

Does anyone know the thread size I would need for that?

Thanks in advance :)

I'll be impressed if anyone knows, you could take some drill bits and put them in the crank to get an idea of thread diameter, pitch will probably be 1.25 or 1.5mm.

It's going to be a little harder as we don't have those engines in the states.

Thanks for the replies guys. After posting that thread I realised how stupid I was being. I grab a bunch of different bolts and it was the first one I tried, 14 by 1.5.

So I popped down to a friends trans shop, rummaged through the bolt bins, found one that was too long, trimmed it and chucked it in. It's working fine now.

Thanks anyway.
