5 speed manual gearbox

i hear a whirling noise from my gearbox at all driving speeds although it shifts smoothly and very fine so is this the normal differential noise?

Do you mean the whining noise under deceleration in gear? That would be normal.

Mine is the quietest trans I ever had.

yes that's exactly what i meant so its a normal thing now i am satisfied thanks for your answer

No problem. Yeah if that's all it is, thats fine. All manual gearboxes do that, even the 6-speed in my buddy's Impreza STI.

It's just the gears changing load off power.
