my front exhaust pipe is leaking right before the flex pipe, i've noticed the mpg is dropping beside the louder noise from the engine.

is it true that mpg will drop when front pipe leaks or it is just psychologically believing my mpg is dropping.

it is a 93 5s-fe with 230k miles, seems like that leaking front pipe is still original, i already bought an aftermarket front pipe with flex from ebay under $65 shipped, hopefully it will last a few years.

You may be losing a little fuel efficiency, but most likely not enough where you can tell. If it's a major leak, maby. Just have a muffler shop install the pipe.
