I put it in my car which was already rapidly dying... the turbo kit, at 3-5 psi killed my motor, but I saw it coming, my compression was at 180psi when it should have been at 240 psi accross all 4 cylinder. Driving on the highway, it kept missing under load until BOOM!! I'd only get it if you're sure your engine is in excellent condition, unless, like me, you wanted to do a rebuild anyway. I'm getting it rebuilt by flatlander racing in New Hampshire for about 3500 dollars to hold 20psi, but the burien toyota turbo kit only supports 14 psi, if you build your motor accordingly. you'd need a custom fuel rail with bigger injectors (550cc instead of the 360cc that come with the kit), a 3SGTE fuel pump, and a stand alone engine management system to push more than 14psi. I recommend the kit though, it spools up at 2500 rpm with no lag whatsoever. I was destroying my friends 1.8T GTI on a badly worn engine, it flew up to 125 in the highway with ease, as opposed to slowly creeping up like the NA does after you hit triple digits. I can't imagine what 14, or even 20psi will feel like. I'll post my quarter mile times as soon as I get it back on the road. Ohh by the way, installation took me and friend 2 days workin at his house in below freezing temperature. There were only a few minor headaches...

yeah i was just wonderin if anyone has done it or know anyone who has
I have it in my Camry. I liked how easy the install was. 5-7 psi was a great boost, but I desire more. I am now building the motor in a 5S-GTE set up. Only downfall to the kit in my eyes is that they don't offer an intercooler.

5S-GTE? Is that possible? Wouldn't putting the GTE top end on it turn it into a 3s-gte basically? So you are going to use the block of a 5s-fe and the top end of a 3sgte? Why not just completely swap?

Yes it is possible. Wraith on this forum is in the process right now and is waaaaay ahead of me. It does not turn it into a 3S-GTE because I am using the 5th gen block, not the 3rd. It is like a stroked version of the 3S-GTE. I already have the means to do this instead of the swap.

another thing the kit is missing are colder plugs, engine management, and a intercooler. even with that you can only boost safely on 5-7psi. if i were you i would be alot cheaper to put together you own kit.

5S-GTE -> 2.2L Turbo. The block got bigger bore and longer strock. More torque then 3S-GTE maybe less HP but don't think anyone can catch you off the line;)
On the same ground a 5S-GE is possible too.
Its easier then a swap, less stuff to change. If the manifold come with T-VIS, you can leave it open or use a rpm switch to activate it.
You can probably use a 3S-GTE exhaust manifold and turbo on the 5S-FE to turbo it. Then all you need is other bit and pieces ike pipe, intake, BOV, intercooler and any toys you wannt add. Probably much less then $2500. Only thing is you can't use the 3S-GTE top mount IC on the 5S-FE intake.
