Hey guys/girls, I recently blew the head gasket in my car and finally finished everything up and i started the car up and i heard ticking from the top end, my question is since i didnt change anything in the top end would valve adjustment be needed if so what is a simple way to figure out what size shim needs to be placed any info would be great thanks in advance

The only way to know is to measure the clearances.
If any are out of spec. here is the formula too decide the thickness of a new shim.

N = T + (A - C)


N= Thickness of new Shim
T= Thickness of used shim
A= Measured Clearance
C= Optimum Clearance
