The steel case W50 behind your 8R-C will fit behind a 22R.
The 8R, 18R, 20R and 22R all share the same bellhousing bolt pattern.
The 22R normally comes with an alloy case gearbox but it will fit.
Are you putting a 22R into your '71 or are you putting the W50 into another car?

I am putting the 22R in my 71'.
