Hi everybody, I have a stock 1981 corolla dx 4-door which I would like to put a different engine in. the current engine's crankshaft bearings have already been replaced once but the the crankshaft was damaged when the old bearings jammed. There's a 2t engine from a Celica I can buy, with transmission and everything, but I would rather install a DOHC 1.6 out of a '86-> corolla, there are none on the island and I would have to buy one and have it braught here. I was wondering what other engine posibilities I'm looking at, and what advice some of you may have to give me... I was told that the k-series motor (2k,4k and 5k) from the old toyota pickups and hiace's also could fit and give me more power, but I still dont know which would be the best choice...

THX, Ralph...

uhm I dont exactly know which engine that is and from which car, is it the 1.8 SOHC? I live on a small Island with 11.000 people in the middle of the carib. it's hard getting any good quality engines, and I'm way to broke for ordering one from Japan :S The neighbouring island might have some 4A engines with the long trani config (from an older corolla rear wheel drive) or some celica or pickup engines... what about a 7k? thx for youre advice...
