86 pickup cab change

hey all I have a question that I cannot find an answer for. I am wondering if it would be possible to adapt a later year or other brand extended cab or crewcab to my truck?
I have an 86 xtracab but I want to have seating for four or more. I am sure I have the skills to do it. I can weld and fab brackets and panels if need be.
has anyone done the swap before? or is it just not worth it? I was thinking a cab from a 89 or later or even something from a ranger or nissan.
i would like to keep my truck as I would like to a vw alh diesel swap into it for the gas mileage and power. also I like the styling of the year.

thanks for any advice or comments in advance :D

Why not just put a 4Runner body on it?
well I really like having the truck bed. I tend to haul big awkward objects that wouldn't fit or dirty oil covered engines and transmissions which is not good for interiors. if there was such as half a 4runner maybe.
You should probably look into buying something like:
http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/cto/1895604388.html (not mine) and fixing it up.
that would be perfect if i lived anywhere near Seattle.:D Is there a kit for that or is that an old 80's mod?
These are custom jobs. There are a few of them to be had. I have seen about four of them on the Seattle Craigslist over the last year. If I had some cash, I would definitely scoop this up. But, I mainly used it to display that these exist.
well i guess i am out of luck that way. maybe I'll have to go with a early 4runner and convert the back to a truck bed.
